Our story

Born from a question
no one was answering.

Why do so many young people feel like guests in their own heritage? That question started Vrishalaya, and it still drives everything we do.

How it started

A family.
A question.
A gathering place.

In 2022, the Vadi family looked around at the young people in their community and noticed something: a generation fluent in two cultures but fully at home in neither.

They had grown up hearing the same story: carry the traditions forward. But there was rarely anyone explaining why those traditions existed, or how they could actually live in a modern life. Heritage was something to display, not something to live.

Vrishalaya started as an answer to that gap. Not a temple, a yoga studio, or a school, but a space where young people could discover their roots on their own terms, surrounded by others asking the same questions.

Our mission
“Help today's youth discover purpose, community, spirituality, and culture through meaningful experiences and service.”

We do this through programs, community, and a relentless belief that ancient wisdom has everything to say to the modern world, if you can find the right door in.

Between two worlds,
belonging to both.

Most institutions that carry Indian tradition were built for a different generation. They assume a level of prior knowledge, a particular level of devotion, a fixed way of engaging. The second-generation experience rarely fits that mold.

At the same time, modern culture doesn't always offer the depth, rootedness, or community that these young people are quietly searching for.

Vrishalaya lives in that gap, creating a space that takes both worlds seriously. Whether you were raised with daily puja or barely know a single shloka, you're exactly where you need to be.

What guides us.

Seva

Service

Selfless giving is at the heart of everything we do. Service is as nourishing for the giver as it is for the receiver.

Karuna

Compassion

We lead with empathy for each other, our community, and those we serve. Kindness is never out of style.

Jnana

Learning

We honor both ancient wisdom and modern knowledge. Curiosity, growth, and open minds are always welcome here.

Sangha

Community

We are stronger together. Our community is our sanctuary: diverse, welcoming, and built on genuine care.

Satya

Integrity

We show up authentically, without pretense or performance. Just honest people doing meaningful work.

Dharma

We help young people discover why they are here and give them the tools and community to pursue it.
